"Let each citizen remember when he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual - or at least he ought not to do so; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country." --Samuel Adams, in the Boston Gazette, 1781.
The above quote is so profound that it really requires a more thorough perusal. When I discovered it, around the time I was building our website, www.jackcountygop.com, I was amazed that I had not heard it before. I believe every word and have tried to get that message across to all that will listen.
We are accountable to vet each candidate that is on our ballot. We not only should know who we are voting for, but we need to know them well. Each candidate, if elected, will be expected to lead our country, state, county, etc., to the best of their ability, so find out if they are qualified to do the job in the position for which they are running.
Find out if they share your values and that they care as much as you do about your future, this country, our rights, our Constitution, and our way of life. Vote for them because they believe in our God and that we are a Christian nation, and an exceptional and compassionate one.
Fortunately, if you have not done your homework, we have the option of voting a straight Republican ticket. At least then, the probability is that the largest part of them will agree with most of your values. Other parties’ candidates… not so much.
